For this week’s discussion post, I would like you to research mythologies from other cultures. What you need to do is the following:

Choose a culture’s mythologies that we have not covered; however, you cannot choose Norse or Celtic mythology, or other Western European cultures. I would like you to expand your thinking about this. Acceptable cultures to choose from would be any Asian culture (not India), African cultures that were not covered in the video I provided, Latin American, Caribbean, Native American, Australian/Aborigine, Russian (not ideal, but would be allowable), etc. If you are not sure, you should email me and ask BEFORE you do the rest of the assignment.

Once you’ve chosen your culture, I would like you to find 2 different myth or folklore stories from the culture. In your discussion post, you will provide a link to the stories that you found.

Then, in your post, you will write at least 250 words where you provide a summary of the myth/folklore story AND you should explain what the story tells us about their culture (think themes). You should also explain how the story relates to overall concepts of mythology that we have already discussed this semester, and you should make a connection between the videos you watched this week and the story that you chose.
Since you will need to do a bit of research to find myths from other cultures. Please use reliable sources for these. If you’re not sure how to find reliable sources, GO HERE for helpful info about finding sources

Please do not use Overly Sarcastic Productions as their information is not reliable! However, there are plenty of TED Talks Education and Crash Course videos that are good resources that you can use.

Remember that you should comment on at least 2 classmates’ posts by Monday before 11:59pm. Please try to comment on classmates who DO not have many comments and also have written about a culture that is different than the one you chose.
