The following are guidelines and expectations from the biology lab report topic of your choice. This report is worth 200 points (20%) of your final grade.
Please begin promptly as this report will be due before July 24,2020
prior to continuing to complete the lab report.
2. The submission of this report NEEDS to be in a word document (.doc or .docx). The submission will be completed on BlackBoard which will be found in the “Week 3” folder. The submission will be available from 12:00 AM on July 19 to 11:59 PM July 25. Multiple submissions will be allowed to allow the correction of any errors.
3. The format for this word document will need to be in Font “Times New Roman” and Size 12 pt. The document length is expected to be 4-5 pages long and double spaced. A minimum of 3 citations is required for the lab report. Citation format will be APA with in text citations. Be advised, this assignment will be screened for plagiarism. If plagiarism is found refer to the syllabus to understand the UTEP policy regarding plagiarism.
4. Below are the sections that are required in the lab report.
A. Cover page with title, name, date, course, and course number. The title should state the topic you are covering in the report or an aspect of your topic NOT the assignment name “Lab Report”. This page DOES NOT count to the page count.
B. Abstract – This is a summary of your lab report and should be on average 300 words (usually completed after the report). Needs to be on a page alone and is included on the total page count.
C. Introduction – This section includes background and relevant information explaining your topic of choice. This is to inform the reader about the topic you picked and include the importance/significance of this topic to the field of biology. If possible, include origin of this topic and how it was discovered or founded.
D. Discussion – In detail elaborate your findings on your topic with emphasis on future impacts of your topic. Include what else is needed to know on this topic or how it can be advanced. Include how this topic helped advance the field of biology. Include if any, human and animal health or environmental impacts.
E. Conclusion – Emphasize what you learned regarding your topic. Include the knowledge you had prior to researching the topic then explain what you learned. Further explain why you chose this topic and how this topic could help you in your academic and professional career. Incorporate the reason you are taking this course and how it will help you understand biology.

F. Citations/References – In this section include your citations in APA format.
